    2                    Carrots -- slice
    2                    Onions -- slice
    2      Ribs          celery w/leaves -- cut
    3      pounds        Whole fryer
    2      teaspoons     Salt
      1/2  teaspoon      Black pepper
      1/2  cup           Chicken broth
      1/2  t             basil -- (1/2 to 1)
 
 Put carrots, onions, and celery in bottom of crockpot. Add whole chicken. 
 Top with salt, pepper, liquid. Sprinkle basil over top. Cover and cook on 
 LOW 8-10 hours or HIGH 3 1/2 -  5 hours using 1 c liquid). Remove chicken 
 and vegetables and serve.
